As busy moms, it can be difficult to find time to take care of ourselves. If you asked any parent of a child with special needs, that response would likely be even more emphatic. With even more appointments in their weekly schedule to manage, it can feel nearly impossible to find time for themselves.
What if there was a place that catered to the care of kids AND self-care of parents/guardians/caregivers?
Thanks to the beautiful new space built by Beyond Boundaries Therapy & Wellness, their goal is to meet both of these needs. Their team of therapists (many of whom are parents themselves) understand the need to care for the WHOLE person – both physically and emotionally.
Beyond Boundaries: More than Just Therapy
Beyond Boundaries is not new to the therapy scene: they have been providing integrated therapy to the Fargo community since 2007. Co-owners LaDonna Bannach (OT/PT/Wellness) and Kitsy Radermacher (Speech, Go Beyond Childcare & Preschool) have long taken an integrated approach to offer multiple services under one roof, and are well known for their services in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech Language Therapy, and their specialized services for incontinence, feeding, and literacy.
As their therapy services have expanded, their need for dedicated spaces to better serve their families has grown. We recently got a tour of their BRAND NEW SPACE, and are so excited to share what they’ve been up to!
Bigger, Better Therapy Spaces
Their new building boasts a full ADL Suite (ADL = Activities of Daily Living), where they have a full kitchen to practice cooking and cleaning skills, four private rooms for feeding therapy and nutrition sessions, and plenty of space for their speech and occupational therapists to work together to best serve their families.

For children needing incontinence support, the physical and occupational therapists work together using four individualized treatment rooms and two private bathrooms. These spaces are so important to supporting children and families on this journey.
They have multiple therapy gyms for physical and occupational therapy, and a sensory room full of calm lights and spaces for kids to wind down.

Other features we loved of their new space include large hallways with rounded corners, an elevator to access three floors, a fun waiting area for kids, and a working space for parents to use during their child’s therapy session.

Rounding out their expanded space is a 7,500 square foot outdoor seating area, which is gated in for child safety and surrounded by sensory play and natural features for kids to enjoy when the weather is warm.

Go Beyond Childcare & Preschool
Go Beyond Preschool has expanded their services since transitioning to this new space, and now serves children from 0-5. They have always been literacy-focused, with owner Kitsy (speech therapist) visiting the class once a week with engaging lessons. The whole center has shown great care for children of all abilities.
Serving the Wellness of Parents
The Beyond Boundaries team knows the importance of self-care for parents, and wanted to remove the barriers to help them take care of themselves during their child’s therapy sessions (which can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours).
Whether it’s getting a cup of coffee, getting a massage, or squeezing in a work-out, self care is possible at Beyond Boundaries Therapy & Wellness.
Here’s some of the new services and features you can expect!
Charlie’s Place

“Coffee with a Purpose” – that’s the motto of Charlie’s Place. Thanks to the non-profit Art & Soul and Beyond Boundaries co-founders LaDonna Bannach and Kitsy Radermacher, this new coffee shop will provide both nourishment for the community and employment for adults with cognitive challenges.
Grab a cup of soup over the lunch hour, enjoy a coffee during your child’s afternoon therapy session, or simply use it as a new meeting spot with friends and co-workers! They will have breakfast sandwiches, soups and salads for lunch, coffee and tea, hot chocolate, and smoothies/cold drinks.
Massage Therapy
Whether your infant or child needs some extra support, or you want to schedule your regular massage session, the licensed massage therapist at Beyond Boundaries is ready to serve you! Located on the 3rd floor, massage therapy is an integral part of serving families at Beyond Boundaries. Anyone is welcome to book a massage, and sessions range from 30 to 90 minutes (infant and child sessions can be 15-30 minutes).

Fitness Center
Need to get some steps in to clear your mind? Does breaking a sweat help you feel better mentally? Beyond Boundaries is making it a little bit easier to take care of your physical health with a fitness center on site for parents to use during their child’s therapy appointment. This room has started to take shape! Two treadmills, an elliptical, free weights, yoga mats and a bike will be available (coming soon!) for a quick and simple workout on site.

Mental Health Counseling
Parenting a child with special needs can take a toll, and having someone to talk to can make a world of difference. Parents can access the licensed mental health counselor that will be a future part of the Beyond Boundaries Wellness team (currently hiring for this position!), and can meet with them regular to connect with someone who will listen openly and without judgement. The vision for this service is that it will be an added resource and yet another support system to collaborate with the client’s other team members.
Integrated Wellness Coach
Occupational Therapist, Andrea Hensrud, specializes in health and wellness coaching and serves as Beyond Boundaries’ Integrated Wellness Coach. She uses her expertise to help adults focus on changing their habits, setting goals, and addressing their feelings of “sensory overload” and overwhelm by helping regulate the nervous system. This helps to enable clients to manage stress and improve focus as they work toward their personal goals. Anyone is able to access these helpful services, and they may even be covered by insurance!
More Services
Rounding out the wellness services at Beyond Boundaries are a Lactation Consultant, Sleep Consultant (called the Savvy Sleeper program), and a registered dietitian. Like the services above, these programs are all meant to address the health and well-being of your child AND you.
In total, they have 14 speciality areas thanks to their highly skilled and experienced team. Now in their 18th year serving the Fargo community, their team has truly gone above and beyond to provide integrated services all under one roof to serve local families.
