Developmental Target Skills

Developmental Milestones vs. Developmental Averages

A Developmental Milestone is a skill that 90% of children can do by a certain age.  It’s often used to flag when a child may be falling behind.

A Developmental Average reflects the age when about 50% of children reach a skill. This gives a better picture of what’s typical and can help caregivers offer support before delays occur.

Every child develops at their own pace, but if your child is missing several averages or even one milestone, it may be worth exploring additional support.
