By Gage Schlecht, Licensed Massage Therapist, Beyond Boundaries Therapy & Wellness

Robert Calvert once said, “The real purpose of giving massage is to foster more depth of feeling for one another in order to bring out the love that often lies beneath the pain of everyday suffering.”

Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of muscles and soft tissues. For many, it plays a vital role in holistic healing of the mind, body, and spirit.

My passion for massage therapy comes from a deep respect for how important it is to care for both our mental and physical health. I feel honored to help others heal through therapeutic touch and to support the connection between mind, body, and soul.

The Science Behind Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is well known for its holistic and healing properties. Research also supports its positive effects on both physical and mental health.

By manually manipulating soft tissues, massage therapy can:

  • Improve overall body function
  • Reduce pain and muscle tension
  • Support injury recovery

In addition to physical benefits, massage therapy can also:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Improve mood
  • Enhance sleep quality

Because of these benefits, massage therapy is increasingly viewed as a valuable part of preventive healthcare- not just a luxury.

Massage Therapy for All Ages

Massage therapy can benefit people of all ages. In my practice at Beyond Boundaries Therapy & Wellness, I provide massage services for individuals ranging from infants to adults.

For infants and children, massage therapy can be especially helpful for those who struggle with body awareness as they grow and develop. Pediatric massage may support:

  • Self-regulation
  • Sensory processing
  • Comfort within the body

For adults, massage therapy is an effective tool for stress relief and addressing physical strain.

Supporting Caregivers Through Wellness

Many of my clients are caregivers, including pediatric therapists and parents of children with unique needs. Working with children requires constant physical and mental adaptation, which can lead to increased stress and fatigue.

Beyond Boundaries Therapy & Wellness intentionally added the “wellness” component to its services to better support caregivers. Offering massage therapy and other wellness services allows caregivers to prioritize self-care in a convenient and accessible way.

Providing caregivers with a space to fully relax, be present, and let go is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

The Power of Connection and Education

One of the most meaningful aspects of massage therapy is the client-therapist relationship. With each session, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment while also educating clients on self-care techniques they can use between appointments.

Witnessing improvements in range of motion or seeing a client truly relaxed is something I never take for granted. I am committed to offering high-quality care and a healing space for both new and returning clients.
